KATIE ROSE HAND is a trombonist pursuing her Masters in Music Performance at the University of Maryland. Katie Rose earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she was the Assistant Director of Bands at Volcano Vista High School.

At Volcano Vista, Katie Rose taught marching band, concert band, chamber music, and low brass private lessons. Her students have received Superior rankings at band festivals, marching competitions, and solo and ensemble, and some have earned spots in New Mexico's All-State Honor Band.

As a trombonist, Katie Rose has performed in various ensembles including the New Mexico Philharmonic, Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra, and the Sandia Brass Quintet. She has performed with and conducted the UMD Trombone Choir at the 2025 International Women's Brass Conference, and she has also participated in multiple international early music collaborations in Europe.

Katie Rose spends her free time training for Ironman triathlons, baking, and spending time with her husband, Chris, and her two cats, Spoon and Lasagna.
